One dish which I have never had enough of is this mouthwatering ‘Chukauni’. I love it’s flavour, texture and taste. Grown up in western Nepal we used to have it everyday in school days. Later I was totally surprised when I could not find any place in Kathmandu where ‘Chukauni’ was available. Not only that people in Kathmandu did not know about such a popular dish.
Only then I realised that it is purely Western Nepal’s dish. Other good thing about this is, it is very simple to make. This also gives relief in summer days as it is served cold, and can be eaten with snacks or just itself. This spicy ‘Salad type’ dish is mixture of ‘boiled potato, yogurt, onion and methi.
Are you still wondering how does it taste? If you have some friends from Western part of country (Palpa, Butwal, Gulmi, Pokhara, Syangja, Baglung etc) ask them to make it. They will be more than happy to introduce one of the most delicious dishes.
