Nepal government’s custom department has new rules for the goods and food to be brought into Nepal from foreign country. The new rules will be implemented from 16 July 2016.

The following items can be brought for personal use

GOLD: Golden jewellery up to 50 grams is allowed tax free. No Raw Gold allowed.

SILVER: Silver jewellery up to 500 grams is allowed tax free. No Raw Silver is allowed

ALCOHOL: One bottle,  maximum of one litre tax free.

TELEVISION: Any Nepali national living and working abroad for more than 12 months is allowed to bring ONE TV up to 32 inches tax free. The TV can be of any price or any brand and it can be just normal TV, LCD, Smart TV, LED, 3D or Curved TV.

If TV is more than 32 inches, Rs 550 is charged per inch calculating total inches. For eg, if TV is 33 inches custom charge will be (33 x Rs 550), likewise if its 40 inches it will be (40 x Rs 550)

FOOD: Up to 7 kg, tax free

MOBILE PHONE: One piece tax free

PEN DRIVE: One piece tax free

CAMERA: One piece tax free

VIDEO CAMERA: One piece tax free
