Bipul Chettri needs no introduction who magically blends Nepali folk music with contemporary western elements.  His beautiful songs already touched millions of hearts and souls around the world  effortlessly.  Let’s  know more about him

Bipul Chettri was born and raised in Kalimpong, Darjeeling  in West Bengal India who went to St Augustine’s School before moving to New Delhi.

It all started with his first track ‘Wildfire’ which practically brought wildfire (Dadhelo) in his musical career. The experimental song was recorded and uploaded on Sound- Cloud in February 2013. His wife was the first one to hear Wildfire who was immediately impressed with its different genre. The rest is history now.

‘The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek’.  Exactly in same way, he put all his financial resources into his first album ‘Sketches of Darjeeling’ which was released in 2014. It would have been entirely different scenario had it not worked well. But it is great that it went far beyond expectations and people loved it.

His late father Nirendra Mohan Chettri, a British Gurhka, had been his biggest inspiration. He was a well known musician in Darjeeling area. His fondest memory of his father was when he came to see him performing in school. Sadly, that was the first and last time he saw him on the stage. His father passed away when he was only 9 years old.

Do you know why he dedicated one of his much loved tracks ‘Ramsailee’ to his father? Originally it was written by his late father Nirendra Mohan Chettri when he was toddler. He only knew the lyrics of the first half of the song. Since there was no recording of it, he added the second half and rearranged it. This song is an ‘Ode to his beloved father.’ Hope he is listening it there in heaven and probably is very proud of his son.
